The PS leadership held an extraordinary meeting yesterday evening, where it examined the nationwide impact and the consequences brought by the disagreement noted in relations between the government and local leaders. Also yesterday, at the same time in Vlorë in the morning, it became clear that the local deputy was preparing to continue with great determination an action he had announced. According to various sources from the branch headquarters, within the PS in the Albanian parliament the opposition is gaining support for confronting the government. His announced action is connected to the demand for the dismissal of the Vlorë prefect and to the disregard of local structures by the center. It came out of the coalition and proved how inadequate joint governance was. This statement comes at a time when voices calling for a radicalization of the Socialist stance in the South are multiplying. The PS leadership met again in the evening to review the latest developments and to discuss whether it will continue to tolerate the local clashes that are exposing the party’s internal crisis. Berisha as Penelope Further on, lawsuit against Alimuça: He insulted me Under accusations concerning some of the procedures followed during his mandate, former President Sali Berisha reacted sharply yesterday to the prosecution’s accusations and to an article he considers insulting. In a public appearance he compared his opponents to Penelope, who unravels at night what she weaves during the day, and said that the state built by him is being unfairly attacked. He also announced that he will file a lawsuit against Alimuça, claiming that he was publicly insulted. President of the VEFA company, Vehbi Alimuça, sued yesterday at the Tirana prosecutor’s office.
